Our AGM will take place on the 17th July 2024 at 7pm – and we’re looking for new trustees.
What does a trustee do?
It’s a question that gets asked a lot – so The Scouts have put together an info pack (below) which talks about being a trustee. Effectively, you meet four or five times a year, discussing issues with the group and trying to find solutions to these issues, so that the adults working directly with young people can focus on doing that. If you’d like to know more about what being a trustee entails, just drop me an email and I can talk through what would be expected – or speak to one of our existing trustees.
Does it have to be me?
No! Almost anybody can be a trustee, and they don’t need to be/have been a Scout in order to do it. Where possible, to ensure a balanced team, it would actually be great to have a few people from outside the organisation, so if you know anybody in work or school who may be willing to give us a few evenings a year, please reach out to them and get them to drop me an email. You should also see a trustee presence on our Facebook page over the coming weeks, as we build up to AGM. Please like and share these posts, so that we can reach a large audience and hopefully find some new people.
What do I get as a trustee?
Well, I’ll buy biscuits for the meetings if I remember. But you also get to start new adventures, learn new skills, develop yourself, and it looks great on your CV. You can also say you’re contributing to giving more young people in Redruth opportunities for the coming years.
Sounds great – I’m in!
Amazing. Either drop me an email or just turn up to the AGM and put yourself forward.
Thanks!
