Your First Meeting
Your first meeting is sure to be scary – but please don’t worry! Everyone young and old would once have been in exactly the same position as you – and while they may make a lot of noise while they’re playing games, the best way is it get stuck in and join in the fun straight away. After your meeting, don’t disappear too quickly, as your leader will want to speak to you and ask how you enjoyed the evening.
You won’t need to bring anything for your first meeting – just come along and see what Scouts is all about.
Activities and Adventures
Joining 2nd Redruth means stepping into a world filled with new adventures! From regular Scout evenings where we play games and learn Skills for Life, to bigger adventures like our trip to Italy or the energy-packed Kernow Jamboree. On a typical evening with us, you might find yourself crafting something cool, trying out a new outdoor challenge, or even planning the next big trip with your pals. It’s all about fun, friendship, and making memories that’ll stick with you forever.
#SkillsForLife
There’s a reason Scouts has been a hit for over 110 years – it’s not just about the fun and games, but also the incredible skills we pick up along the way! With 2nd Redruth, you’ll learn stuff that isn’t in school books. Think pitching tents, navigating through woods, or even whipping up a campfire meal. But it’s not just about outdoor know-how. We also focus on teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving, amongst other things. So, while we’re having a blast, we’re also gearing up for the real world, ready to tackle anything with our #SkillsForLife.
Personal Growth and Achievement
In the world of Scouting, every challenge tackled, every badge earned, and every campfire story shared is a step towards personal growth. But it’s not just about what you do – it’s about who you become. Here, every young person gets a chance to discover their strengths, push their boundaries, and celebrate their unique achievements. As evenings turn into adventures, you’ll find yourself not just collecting badges but also building confidence, resilience, and a sense of self-worth.
Online Scout Manager (OSM)
If you haven’t already, you’ll receive an email inviting you to OSM. OSM is our admin tool, and has all you need to know about Scouts at 2nd Redruth. Our programme, all events, payments, and personal details all stay in one place – right down to the badges you’ve earned and where they go.
The help pages on OSM are super useful (if you’re on a mobile device, click the three dots in the top right and there’s a help button), but if you do need a hand just email hello@2ndredruthscouts.org.uk and we’ll try to help you out.
