Our Values and Promise

Scouting Values

Integrity: We act with integrity; we are honest, trustworthy, and loyal.

Respect: We have self-respect and respect for others.

Care: We support others and take care of the world in which we live.

Belief: We explore our faiths, beliefs, and attitudes.

Cooperation: We make a positive difference; we co-operate with others and make friends.

Where we can, we’ll make these relatable, and you should see them shining through in our programmes and events. When joining us, we can expect your young person to also commit to following these key values.

Promise

There are different versions of the Scout Promise to take into account the ages and beliefs of those making it – there’s one for Beavers, one for Cubs, and then Scouts, Explorers, and Leaders all make the same promise. You can find the Scout promise, including its variations, on the Scout Website.

The Scout Law

The Scout Law is a set of rules we work to which guides Scouts towards being better people.

  1. A Scout is to be trusted.
  2. A Scout is loyal.
  3. A Scout is friendly and considerate.
  4. A Scout belongs to the worldwide family of Scouts.
  5. A Scout has courage in all difficulties.
  6. A Scout makes good use of time and is careful of possessions and property.
  7. A Scout has self-respect and respect for others.

By following these values, Scouts cultivate personal growth, strengthen their sense of community, and embed principles of respect, service, and responsibility into their daily lives.
